Save the Kino Fundraiser

Sunday 15th November, 2.00-11.30pm

As we all know, one of Cork's cultural epicentres, the Kino Cinema on Washington Street is being threatened with closure by it's creditors. Since news has filtered out about the possible dissolution of Cork's, and indeed Ireland's ONLY independent arthouse cinema outside of Dublin, the response from the public has been absolutely overwhelming, with a staggering 6,500+ members already having joined the 'Save the Kino' Facebook group thus far.

With this in mind, we at an Réalt Dearg bar (formerly The Gateway Bar) have decided to host a fundraising event in aid of the endangered cinema. We promise to provide an array of entertainment throughout the day, featuring some of Cork's finest singer-songwriters/DJ's/performers and a diverse selection of food too! Admission is, of course, free but donations will be accepted from open to close, with ALL proceeds to be given to our beloved cinema.

This is a fundraiser that will serve the public to it's best ability. So, if you have any ideas, or feel that you can contribute to the event in anyway (be it a donation of food/drink/spot prize, anything!), do not hesitate to contact us!

So please come down and show your support, enjoy the cosy atmosphere with a drink, make a donation (no offering is too big or too small!) and mainly, enjoy yourself!

No amount is too little or too great.

Donations can be made by electronic banking or by visiting the branch. We apologise that at present we do not have a PAYPAL facility and we cannot accept cheques. The bank account is a basic joint account in the name of the trustees - this was the quickest and only way to get a bank account open and is a temporary solution. We are exploring setting up a PayPal facility on the website but this will take a little more time.
